Rolene Strauss Comes Back for SA Placement
Miss South Africa for Miss Universe 2014
Who is this Miss South Africa 2014?
Rolene Strauss is a 22-year old medical student from South Africa who stands 5 ft 10 in tall. She will represent her country at Miss Universe 2014 and Miss World 2014. At an early age of 8, she was inspired of the crowning of Miss SA 2000 Jo-Ann Strauss and dreamt of winning the title one day. She participated in Miss South Africa 2011 and placed in the top 5, and eventually scooped the title herself in March 2014. She is originally from Mpumalanga, Rolene and is currently living in Bloemfontein, studying medicine at the University of the Free State. Combining her two passions, she says: “Miss South Africa is all about giving. One of the greatest gifts anyone can receive is the gift of a healthy life. With my passion for giving, people and health, I will be able to contribute to one of the most important things any country desires: health for all.” Rolene finds inspiration from Professor Jonathan Jansen, the rector of the University of the Free State. “He is not afraid to stand for what he believes in, he loves what he does and gives of himself to his students. I can testify that he wants the best for his students and supports them in all they do. We can all learn from Prof Jansen. Love what you do, stay humble and let the light shine on others.” As Miss South Africa 2014 Strauss has won cash, a car and products valued at more than R1.3 million. She also gets thousands of rands in cash and study bursaries to award to South Africans that she meets during her reign. Cell C is also giving the winner access to R200 000 to spend on random acts of kindness.

What’s our say about her?
She’s Hollywood-isque and brainy. She looks like Megan Fox, and in some angles, Julia Roberts. We think that her chances at Miss Universe and Miss World are very high. Her features are impactful and she exudes confidence. What we think she needs is the proper styling and uncompromising training that will prepare her for the international pageants. Face-wise, she’s good to go, but honestly, some of her shots weren’t that delightful, but she has a lot of them that were easy on the eyes, though. Her body needs training. She would look more edgy and striking if she’s thinner. One thing that we also think she needs improvements is her personality. At some of her appearances, she appeared to be a little bit coy which we believe to be unbecoming for a queen. She got to be beautifully exuberant and bubbly for her to shine. Last year, that was what Marily lacked and it cost her to clap. South Africans are undeniably beautiful, it’s just that a few of their representatives lack this area and they ended clapping. If you ask us whether she will place, our answer will be “yes” only if she improves. We wish we could see the Melinda Bam vibe in Rolene. Well, let’s see how she improves.
What do pageant fans and experts say about her?
