MISS USA 2015 Might Be Thrown Back
Oh gee! This is so not happening! And we hope NBC people aren’t serious with their statement last Thursday that they are distancing themselves from Donald Trump along with his presidential run. If so, the show might be canceled and embarrassingly so, will be the biggest pageant-murder in history..ugh!
In a statement, NBC said that it’s evaluating its commitment to the Miss USA pageant after Univision ditched the program over harsh comments made by Daddy Donald against Mexico. “Donald Trump’s opinions do not represent those of NBC, and we do not agree with his positions on a number of issues, including his recent comments on immigration,” the network said.
The Miss USA 2015 pageant is already underway and is set to be aired live on July 12, but without Univision, and now-seemingly-hesitant NBC, the pageant might be thrown back. Both giant networks have aired the pageant for the past 12 years and whupping the franchise on the curb in a snap might be utterly serious. But as far as we know, NBCUniversal currently has a five-year $13.5 million contract with Trump. So we guess the bets aren’t that off for the pageant to push through.
In an interview with Politico, Trump browbeat to bring charges against Univision for defaulting on what he called an “ironclad” agreement. “They have no termination rights whatsoever”, Trump said. NBC’s lawyers are now making talks with Univision.
We do hope that the Miss USA 2015 pageant will still be pushed through as it is one of the most awaited national competitions in the pageant world. Not to mention how gripping this year’s competition is.
By the way, Latin performer J Balvin has already canceled his performance for Miss USA pageant as he was also offended by Daddy Donald’s comments, which we quote, “The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems. … When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best,” said Trump. “They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”
