Miss Universe 2014 Candidates: Who Will Stay In Top 5?
Miss Universe 2014 candidates are undoubtedly on a deathmatch in getting a single spot in the top 5. Their preparations, in all aspects of being a beauty queen, are painstakingly bending over backwards. But for the past half a decade, it seemed like the spots have been filled by queens from powerhouse countries and there isn’t enough space for the other ladies. If this has to be like this every year, who do you think will hang in there in this year’s battle of beauty? Will we be seeing the same countries in the top 5 or will there be more surprises? Based on a 5-year length, we named four strongest countries sending goddess-like gorgeous ladies year after year and have been mainstays in the top 5 spots. Who lives on the streak and who won’t make it?
Stefania Fernandez – Miss Universe 2009 Winner
Irene Esser – Miss Universe 2012 2nd Runner Up
Gabriela Isler – Miss Universe 2013 Winner
Two crowns in half a decade! That’s Venezuela! Not to mention the top 16 placement of Vanessa Goncalves in MU 2011. This country is proven to be the best in beauty pageantry. We do not care if Migbellis will be in the top 5 this year. But we don’t think that it’s going to be a back-to-back win. Do we sound bitter on that part? Giving a chance to others doesn’t hurt, does it? (grin)
Maria Venus Raj – Miss Universe 2010 4th Runner Up
Shamcey Supsup – Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner Up
Janine Tugonon – Miss Universe 2012 1st Runner Up
Ariella Arida – Miss Universe 2013 3rd Runner Up
If we go down memory lane, Philippines had a 4-peat placement streak in MU 72-75 with one crown and one top 5 spot. So this 4-peat top-5 placement of this new Asian powerhouse is such an achievement considering that it never got any placements during MU 2000-2009. Will Mary Jean Lastimosa reserve herself a spot in top 5 or will she be the one to stop this winning streak?
Priscila Machado – Miss Universe 2011 2nd Runner Up
Gabriela Markus – Miss Universe 2012 4th Runner Up
Jakelyn Oliveira – Miss Universe 2013 4th Runner Up
Brazil is undoubtedly one of the top performing countries in Miss Universe, and seeing three consecutive top 5 placements from this country is not a question. Look at the girls they’ve been sending for the past 3 years? Damn gorgeous! And we don’t mind seeing another Brazilian lady securing a spot in the top 5 in Miss Universe 2014 pageant. She will rock it on stage!
Rachael Finch – Miss Universe 2009 3rd Runner Up
Jesinta Campbell – Miss Universe 2010 2nd Runner Up
Renae Ayris – Miss Universe 2012 3rd Runner Up
We just wish Scherri Lee Biggs made it in MU 2011. It could have been a 4-peat top-5 placement for Australia like Philippines. But we still believe in this country’s charm to secure a spot in the top 5 in Miss Universe 2014 battle. We felt bad that Olivia Wells didn’t live it all up to our expectations. We hope Tegan Martin can bring the limelight back to its country.
So who do you think will continue the win? Venezuela? Philippines? Brazil? Australia?
