Karina Ramos, Miss Costa Rica 2014 also shared her experiences in the 63rd Miss Universe Pageant in one of her recent interviews. She said that the behind-the-scenes were part of their experiences including chocolates and plenty of food, and said she enjoyed it alot.  “Most of what we were doing behind the scenes were eating. I loved it so much. But the days before the finals weren’t unfortunately. We didn’t have much time to eat because we were so busy preparing for the show. So there are times that I’m hungry, so I always have my chocolates with me, especially during rehearsals.”

Karina also stressed that they (with other candidates) always tried to read about all the comments on social networks. “The hardest part is reading the comments on social networks. But I didn’t get affected that much, although I like to read all of them, except the “she-needs-to-improve” ones”, Karina said.

And when she was asked about the results, she said “The announcement of the top 15 finalists took me by surprise, and not only me but many of the candidates. I knew I was a part of the group since Colombia, Spain, India, and Jamaica were in the list. They were heavy favorites. But it’s always like that in beauty pageants, everything changes even in last minute because nobody knows what the organization is looking for. At the end, it’s always a surprise for everyone.”

When she was asked about the rumor of her crying backstage about her exclusion, she simply gave a laugh. “What? No! I was upset because I was not a part of the top 15 but I did not cry. I just really didn’t know what the organization was looking for. I did my best and I had a great experience. No regrets at all.”

Many pageant aficionados are now putting her name as the candidate who will receive the “Ruth Ocumarez Award”, which for the benefit of those who don’t know what the award is, it is given to a major frontrunner who never made the cut, named after Ruth Ocumarez of Dominican Republic who had the same fate in Miss Universe 2002.
